Demonstrations, Lectures
& Workshops

Each year during Art Walk, artists bring a bit of their studios into the streets... or sidewalks. Many locations throughout the event offer a range of artist demonstrations as well as DIY hands-on projects and classes.

From pyrography to painting there are a variety of events throughout Salida that are sure to give you a glimpse into the skill and passion of the Upper Arkansas River Valley's creatives.

PJ Bergin
Sellars Project Space
101 North F Street, Suite 202 (upstairs from cultureclash)

As a contemporary, abstract artist PJ Bergin’s repertoire continues to evolve and expand. PJ is currently combining mulberry paper and beeswax to explore, design and fabricate her hallmark three-dimensional sculptural art work.  Several thin, handmade mulberry papers are overlaid and fused with water to form a single, strong sheet. This technique is called “joomchi”.  Once the paper is fused it can be manipulated, cut into strips, re-fused, and otherwise tampered with, to change its character.  It is then displayed on a beeswax surface. This results in a favorable combination of two mediums that create something entirely new and exciting.

PJ will give a 20 minute presentation discussing how she strives to bring a unique artistic sensibility to an ancient medium, 4 p.m.

Visit pjbergin.com for further information.
